A roll-off is the open-top steel container that arrives on a hook truck and rolls off the bed onto your driveway, lot or alley pad. That is the whole mechanism, and it is why the truck needs about sixty feet of straight approach and real overhead clearance — the bed tilts, the box slides, and the driver needs room to do it without touching a branch, a service drop or a garage eave.
We stock all five common sizes: 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 yard. Same flat-rate structure across all of them — delivery, pickup, a stated tonnage allowance and disposal, quoted as one number. Whatever you are doing, from a single-room remodel to a full commercial tear-down, one of the five is the right answer and we would rather tell you which than sell you the biggest one.

How the Five Sizes Get Used Here
10 Yard for Heavy Debris
Concrete, brick, dirt, sod and landscape rock. Dense material hits the weight limit at partial height, so a small box is the only correct choice.
15 Yard for Single Rooms
One bathroom, a kitchen, a garage purge or a small tear-off. The size most homeowners actually need when they were about to order a 20.
20 Yard, The Workhorse
Basement finishes, whole-house cleanouts, most Lakewood roof tear-offs and general remodel debris. If you have no idea, this is usually the answer.
30 Yard for Big Projects
Full gut remodels, multi-room additions, commercial tenant finish and large estate clearances. Fewer swaps, less crew downtime, more room for bulky material.
40 Yard for Volume
Light and bulky loads — framing scrap, insulation, cubicle systems, packaging, cedar shake. Maximum capacity where weight is not the limiting factor.
Alley Placements
Older Lakewood, Edgewater and west Denver lots often have no usable driveway. We run alleys routinely if the lane is clear and the lines are high enough.
Foothills Driveways
Steep grades toward Morrison, Ken Caryl and Evergreen need a placement assessment. Sometimes the answer is a smaller box staged at the top of the drive.

Weight, Volume and Where People Go Wrong
The mistake is thinking in cubic yards when the truck thinks in tons. Landscape rock runs roughly 2,400 to 2,800 pounds per cubic yard — four yards of it can outweigh a full 30 of framing scrap. Sod comes up with soil attached and behaves the same way. Concrete, tile, plaster and dirt all belong in a small container on a dedicated load. Light bulky material is the opposite problem: cedar shake, insulation and cabinetry take volume without weight, and a bigger box saves you swaps. Protection boards go down on every delivery. Beyond that, three things determine whether a drop goes smoothly. Approach — roughly sixty feet of straight, drivable space to the placement spot. Clearance — about ten feet vertical, and low branches, carport eaves and sagging service lines are what usually stop us. Surface — a driveway with severe bentonite heave or a soft, saturated yard needs a conversation before delivery, not after. What is the difference between a roll-off and a regular dumpster?
A roll-off is the open-top container delivered on a hook truck that rolls it off the bed and picks it back up the same way. That is what people rent for projects. The rear-load bin behind a restaurant is a different animal, emptied on a route by a different truck. Everything we deliver — 10 through 40 yard — is a roll-off. The rental term for both is often used interchangeably.
How much room does the truck actually need?
About sixty feet of straight approach in line with the placement spot, and roughly ten feet of overhead clearance for the bed to tilt. Trees, carport overhangs, low power and cable drops, and basketball hoops are the usual obstacles. On a tight lot we can sometimes work at an angle. Send a photo of the driveway or alley when you book and we will tell you before the truck rolls.
Can I move the dumpster once it is delivered?
No. A loaded roll-off weighs several tons and there is no way to reposition it without the truck. Trying to shift it with a skid steer damages the container, the driveway, or both. Decide the placement before delivery and mark the exact spot. If you genuinely need it moved mid-job, call us and we will schedule a relocation with the truck rather than have anyone attempt it on site.
What is included in the flat rate?
Delivery, pickup, a stated tonnage allowance and the disposal fees, quoted as one number before the container leaves our yard. No daily creep, no invented surcharges. If you exceed the tonnage allowance, the overage rate is stated up front too, so nothing on the final invoice is a surprise. Ask us for the number for your specific job and address — jurisdiction affects disposal cost.
