Roll-off containers for Columbine homes and jobsites
Columbine is an unincorporated Jefferson County community directly south of us, straddling the ground between Lakewood and Littleton along Bowles Avenue and Pierce Street. It is a 1960s and 70s community, which means original kitchens, aging bathrooms, weathered decks and unfinished basements all coming due within a few years of each other. Add hail roof tear-offs and it becomes some of our steadiest residential work anywhere. Because the area is unincorporated, permits come from Jefferson County rather than a city, and a container on a private driveway generally needs no permit at all. Lots are regular, driveways are wide and access is easy.
What we know about working in Columbine
Columbine and its neighboring Columbine Knolls, Columbine West and Columbine Hills subdivisions were built out largely between 1965 and 1980, on flat ground, with full basements and attached garages nearly everywhere. That vintage produces a predictable list of jobs: popcorn ceilings needing asbestos testing before removal, original aluminum-framed windows coming out, cedar shake replaced with asphalt after hail, and basements finished for the first time by second or third owners. Clement Park and Johnson Reservoir anchor the community's open space, with facilities run by the Foothills Park & Recreation District. Because these are county addresses, some pockets lack municipal trash service, so roll-offs get used for ordinary large cleanouts more often than in incorporated cities. Bowles Avenue and Coal Mine Avenue carry the east-west traffic; Pierce, Wadsworth and Kipling handle north-south. Turf replacement projects have grown quickly as water rates climb.

Getting a truck to you
This is nearly a straight shot: south on Pierce Street from the yard, across Quincy and Bowles, and we are there in about fifteen minutes. For the western subdivisions we swing over to Wadsworth or Kipling and come in on Coal Mine. Streets are wide, driveways are long and there are no alleys to negotiate, so placement is usually the easy part. The main thing we check is overhead branch clearance on the older tree-lined blocks.
Routes we run: Bowles Avenue, Pierce Street, Wadsworth Boulevard, Coal Mine Avenue.

Permits, streets and placement in Columbine
On a private driveway in Columbine you generally do not need a municipal permit. Placement in the public street or right-of-way is a different matter and normally requires approval — from the borough or township where the road is locally maintained, or from CDOT where it is a state route. Every municipality in Jefferson County runs its own form and its own lead time, and older streets here often have no off-street parking at all, so plan the permit before you plan the delivery. It is a ten-minute call that saves a week.
Our permit and placement guide walks through the whole process, and CDPHE publishes the Covered Device Recycling Act rules and the other statewide disposal restrictions that apply to every load we haul out of Columbine. County recycling and household hazardous waste dates are published by Jefferson County.

Dumpster Rental in Columbine — FAQs
Since Columbine is unincorporated, do I need a permit for a dumpster?
Not for a container sitting on your own driveway or private property. Jefferson County does not require a permit for that, which is one advantage of an unincorporated address. If the container has to occupy a public street, county right-of-way rules apply and you should call before delivery. Your subdivision covenants, where they exist, may still set expectations about duration.
What size container suits a typical basement finish here?
For a first-time finish in a 1970s Columbine home, most jobs land in the 20 yard range. That handles framing scrap, drywall offcuts, packaging and the accumulated storage that comes out of an unfinished basement, which is often the larger volume. Full gut-and-refinish projects with concrete cutting or plumbing rough-in changes usually need a second container or a swap partway through.
Can you handle turf removal and landscape conversion debris?
Yes, and it has become common in these subdivisions as water rates climb and rebates make xeriscape conversions attractive. Sod is heavy because of the soil attached to it, so a smaller container will hit weight limits long before it looks full. We size a turf load by weight rather than volume. Old sprinkler pipe, edging and landscape timbers can go in the same box.
How quickly can you deliver a dumpster to Columbine?
Columbine is about 6 miles south of Lakewood, so it is a routine run for us. Same-day delivery is usually possible if you call before about 11am, and next morning otherwise. Storm weeks and the spring remodeling peak can stretch that, and we will tell you honestly when you call.
Do you charge extra to deliver to Columbine?
No. Columbine sits inside our standard service area and the flat rate is the same as it is in Lakewood. Delivery, pickup, your rental window and disposal up to the agreed tonnage are all included in the number we quote you.
What size dumpster do most Columbine customers take?
A 20 yard is the most common by a wide margin — it suits kitchen guts, multi-room renovations and three-bedroom house cleanouts. But if you are stripping plaster and lath out of a pre-war house, or moving coal-era brick, stone or concrete, size DOWN to a 10 yard heavy container and take two hauls — that material hits the weight limit long before it fills the box.
